Who we are
Pawtraits (trading as Royal Pawtraits) is an AI-powered pet portrait service based in the United Kingdom. Our website is royalpawtraits.co.uk. For privacy enquiries, contact us at contact@royalpawtraits.co.uk.
What data we collect
When you use Pawtraits, we collect: your email address (provided by you at the portrait generation step); your pet photo (uploaded by you); your name and delivery address (collected at checkout via Stripe); and payment information (handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details).
How we use your data
We use your data to: generate your AI pet portrait using Replicate's AI service; process your payment via Stripe; fulfil and ship your print order via Gelato; send you an order confirmation email; and contact you about your order if there is an issue. If you generated a portrait but did not complete your purchase, we may send you one reminder email about your portrait. You can opt out at any time by replying to that email.
Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the following legal bases: Contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR) — processing your order, generating your portrait, and arranging delivery requires handling your email, photo, name, and address. Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) — sending a single abandoned cart reminder email to customers who generated a portrait but did not complete their purchase. Our legitimate interest is recovering a sale; this is balanced against your right to opt out at any time by replying to the email.
International data transfers
Some of our third-party service providers are based outside the UK. Replicate (AI image generation) and Resend (email delivery) are based in the United States. Transfers to these providers are made under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved under UK GDPR, which provide appropriate safeguards for your personal data. Gelato operates within the EU and is covered by the UK's adequacy decision for the EEA. AWS processes data within the EU (London, eu-west-2) and no international transfer occurs.
Third parties we share data with
To provide our service, your data is shared with: Stripe (payment processing), Replicate (AI image generation), Gelato (print fulfilment and shipping), Amazon Web Services (image storage, EU-West-2 region), and Resend (email delivery). All third parties are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.
Your pet photo
Your uploaded photo is used solely to generate your portrait. It is stored securely on AWS S3 in the EU (London) region. We do not use your photo to train AI models, share it publicly, or use it for any purpose other than generating your portrait.
Data retention
Generated portrait images are automatically deleted from our servers after 30 days. Your order details are retained for up to 7 years as required by UK tax law. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing us.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to processing; restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances; and receive your data in a portable format (data portability).
